Coconut, brocade and doe-skin.
19th century. Unsigned. Dimensions mm 90x85.
Kinchaku made from a section of Coconut with the back of brocade lined with
doe-skin. Carved decoration of a rain dragon between the clouds. The dragon's eyes are
inlaid in metal. Fine patina.
Similar kinchaku made of coconut
were made by Kurokawa Masahide, a carver from Nagasaki specialised in netsuke and sagemono
in different kinds of nuts.
Metal ojime stamped with a flower. Wood manju netsuke of a sumi
tori, charcoal basket for the tea ceremony. Unsigned. 19th century.
