A lacquered box and cover decorated on the roiro ground in gold takamakie, hiramakie
and nashiji with a scene of a recalcitrant horse being pulled aboard of a ferry.
Silver rims on box and cover. The interior of nashiji.
The design is based on an early painting by Hanabusa Itcho (see Julia Meech, Lacquerware
from the Weston Collection A Selection of Inro and Boxes, New York 1995, no.78)
