Four case inro, in red carved lacquer, decorated with the seven worthies of the
bamboo grove. Interior in black lacquer. A typical work by Zonsei, who specialised in the
carving of red and black lacquer, usually preferring subjects from the Chinese tradition.
A similar example is in the Kress collection (ex Gilbertson collection).
