Description: A facsimile edition, with an introduction in German, of the fifteen plates and text of the famous album by Kitagawa Utamaro (1753? -1806) Momo chidori kyōka awase, originally published in two volumes around 1790 and commonly known as "The book of birds ". Original covers in Japanese paper with the title in German and in Japanese. The plates, printed in Japan, are extremely faithful to the original with use of blind-printing and mica applications. Each table is facing a text page in German with the translation of the kyōka poems. Edited by Julius Kurt, a famous German scholar who did publish about Utamaro in 1907 and the first study on Sharaku in 1910.
