Subject: A Heian period courtier preparing to cut a fish to offer to the Emperor for the new year.
Title: Haraka minie (The presentation of the red-belly fish)
Series: Sanban (Three). A series of three surimono depicting New Year's ceremonies used at the court of the Heian period.
Signature: Hokkei. The five poems are signed by poets of the Hananoya Mitsueda group.

Size: Surimono shikishiban, 20.2x18.5 cm
Medium: Color woodcut with blind printing and metallic pigments.
Conditions: Very good impression, the kimono finely printed with metallic pigments, good colors, a small repair but in very good condition.
